     “Spiritual After-Care…”

The owner of an expensive motor vehicle invariably incurs some cosmetic impairment to the vehicle through the course of normal usage. Scratches, dirt and the like are typically visible as the driver negotiates the roads, yet the care and consideration offered with every turn of the wheel, and after the journey comes to an end, is a testimony to the value that is placed upon the machine. In situations where groups of diverse people collaborate to achieve a common objective, a strong directional voice of force may be perceived as harsh by the recipient yet the perspective of after-care applied to one’s choicest possessions, if similarly adopted, will lead to a natural harmony…
A maintenance volunteer expressed this problem to Pramukh Swami Maharaj, “Whilst performing seva, sometimes, by telling the truth, it is difficult to say it politely. I have to speak harshly.”
Swamishri offered a solution, “While working together such things do happen, but on perceiving the glory (mahima) of the person concerned things would finally turn out well. Also, forget the incident immediately. Let it be like parting of water, which immediately returns to normal.”
With breathtaking simplicity, Pramukh Swami Maharaj revealed the essence of removing friction between devotees. Despite being aloof from the world and society, he was able to reconcile the tensions between individuals. He may have been oceans apart, yet his life of humble, selfless service brought people together within a heartbeat. It was his universal love and appreciation of every living soul that attracted so many to him unconditionally – his presence in the lives of all who searched for happiness in him, brought fulfilment beyond everything else in this world.
